Why Measure CC Now

Education must be the community’s top priority.

Even or especially in this challenging economy, our schools are the best investment we can make. Good public schools help our young people become strong, contributing citizens. Good public schools help ensure an educated workforce and attract employers offering good, well-paying jobs. They help reduce school dropouts, delinquency, crime, incarcerations and welfare costs. They help protect property values, support the local economy and enhance the quality of life for all of us. Good public schools are essential for a strong economy, a vibrant democracy and a great country.

PUSD schools are making impressive progress and are poised for more. However, extraordinary statewide funding reductions from Sacramento are forcing District budget cuts of an estimated $23 million, cuts of over 10%. After years of District cuts away from the classroom, these cuts threaten to undermine this progress and devastate teaching and learning throughout the District.

Measure CC will avoid the most damaging of these cuts.

We urge every voter in Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre to support our children’s schools, strengthen our community -- and vote YES Measure CC.
