Our Ballot Argument
Our public schools in Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre have made significant and increasing progress for over six years. Test scores are up. Math and English proficiency scores are up. The API (academic performance index) is up. Unfortunately this progress is threatened by unprecedented state budget cuts. Our schools are losing over $23 million in funding with more cuts to come. Measure CC will provide critically needed local funding for our schools for the next five years.
Measure CC will cost property owners a modest $10 a month.
Without Measure CC class sizes will increase, school libraries will be closed, many music and art programs will be eliminated, advanced courses in math and science will be reduced, and summer school will be cut back drastically or eliminated altogether.
Passage of Measure CC will prevent the most devastating cuts to core academic programs and will provide stable local funding that cannot be taken away by the state.
Measure CC will help:
- preserve quality education and protect academic programs against State budget cuts,
- continue funding for advanced math, science and technology courses and for art and music programs,
- keep school libraries open,
- retain qualified teachers,
- maintain manageable class size and
- support other critical academic programs that help prepare our students for college and careers.
Every dollar raised by Measure CC will stay in our community to benefit our schools and our children. Independent community oversight and audits are required, and low-income seniors are eligible for an exemption.
Measure CC has unprecedented support from respected organizations and individuals throughout the community.
Please join us in protecting our schools.
Please vote YES on Measure CC!
